AGOMXXII raffle army Ad Mech

And so we creep closer to the present...the second 8th edition 40k AGOM.
Last time I'd painted up a bunch of the Primaris Marines front he starter set as Dark Angels and added a few other things. This time, I did something sensible for a change and touched up one of my old 40k armies!

AGOMXXI

And another "much later than it should have been" blog post...maybe I'll do these on time at some point rather than waking up too early on a Sunday morning 5 months later and doing them...

I couldn't actually make it to this one as I had a family wedding (and I don't think it would have been a good idea to turn round and say "Sorry, can't come, I've got a tournament to help run..."). In any case, I believe Adam and Ste managed to draft in a couple of people to help with the bar and general running about, so it's nice to know that they don't really miss me that much :-(

As (hopefully) you can see, everyone else looked happy in their teams and didn't miss me either!

Who is the real Nagash?

"You can't win, Great Unclean One With Rotigus' Face, I have the high ground!"

I have to say, the armies up for best painted did look gorgeous as well, so congrats to everyone that was nominated!

AGOMXXI raffle army - the sky dwarves

And again, a bit behind schedule with adding these pictures! For AGOMXXI we changed our AoSrafflearmy trend somewhat. Previously I'd done Destruction (Beastclaw Raiders), Order (Stormcasts) and Death (Flesh Eater Courts), so there was a speculation that we'd do a Chaos army. Rumours abound about Archaon and his Varanguard, or four Bloodthisters...

...but no, I ended up painting Kharadron Overlords. I'd originally painted up a Frigate, Brokk Grungsson and an Admiral when they first came out, but found it rather depressing to do - probably because I chose a slightly awkward colour scheme that took a while, particularly on the ships!

Painting a bunch more of them up for the AGOM raffle army represented a good way to get the models out of the house - I didn't need Brokk staring at me in a judgemental way every time I put something else on the sheaf next to him..
"You'd better paint something with balloons on it...or at least buy some Pringles..."

So Mr. Pringles and friends ended up being the next raffle army. With one other addition- Malign Sorcery had recently come out, and at the time the new Lord-Ordinator had quite a few bonuses for people with war machines. The fact the he changed quite soon after the tournament was a bit of a pain from a list design point of view, so I'm somewhat glad that I included the basic Admiral to the army (taking it  over 2000) but leaving it as an option for the winner (or whomever the army ended up with) as top whether they wanted to go all Kharadron or keep the Ordinator in.

On a further note, I've since had a request to add a couple of the other characters and some Endrinriggers to the army, so it's nice to know that it is probably going to be used!

Enough of my rambling.... onto the pics!

Hmm, left it a while since I last updated this... oops!

Here are a few pictures from AGOMXX, our first 8th Edition Warhammer 40,000 AGOM!

AGOM XX - Incoming

Hope you all had a great Christmas & New year! Now that the holidays are (just about) over, it's time to get on with business - AGOM XX!

Due to popular demand, and the invigoration of a new edition, we're doing both 40k and AoS tournaments again (yay!). The current plan is four events a year - which means a lot more raffle armies to paint (boo! Though I might get some help, which would be useful!).

AGOM XX is our first 8th edition Warhammer 40,000 tournament, held at the usual venue in Kendal - details & tickets at www.agom.co.uk. At the time of writing, I believe there are still tickets available. We're using the Eternal War missions from Chapter Approved 2017, and obviously the points updates as well. The pack should be updated to reflect this shortly.

So, raffle army... with a new edition of the game out, we really had to put a (primarily) Primaris Marine army together. This raised the question of colour - did we put the poster boys (Ultramarines still...I miss the days when the Blood Angels were front and centre) together, with Guilliman in the list, or did we go for something else. Ultimately, we decided that every AGOM raffle army should have a codex or battletome, which meant either codex compliant space marines, or Dark/Blood Angels. Or successors, but we'll ignore that. Basically it meant that Space Wolves were out for now. As most of the local marines that we'd seen recently were Ultramarines, the recent release of both the Blood and Dark Angels codices gave us an opportunity to go with something slightly different. As my personal space marine army is Blood Angels, we decided to go for the Dark Angels - and who doesn't love stratagems that make Hellblasters even better!

AGOM XIX update

Just a quick update - our resident IT guru has uploaded the rules packs for AGOM XIX and EGO CUP II at http://www.agom.co.uk/resources/

As you may have guessed, it's basically the same format as the last couple, with a few updates in line with the newer books.

On a second note, as we've had a few questions about paint schemes and the allegiance abilities from Firestorm (released today I believe!). Our rulings are the same as those on the Warhammer community page, namely:

1) Painting - you don't have to paint your army in the same colours as a specific Stormcast Chamber, Kharadron Overlords Skyport or Firestorm city (etc) to count as that army. You could, for instance, paint an army of Neon Pink Stormcasts and use them as the Celestial Vindicators. However, if you have painted your army as a specific army or city, you can't use them as a different specific army or city. For example, if your army is painted as Celestial Vindicators, they can use the Celestial Vindicator rules or generic Stormcast rules, but couldn't be the Hammers of Sigmar (insert Skyport or City State as appropriate).

2) We'll follow the ruling that GW is making according to the Warhammer community page and the Firestorm Errata as to combining allegiances; namely that you can take a Firestorm City allegiance, but only with the Grand Alliance ability - so Order and the various City allegiances, Destruction and Stoneklaw's Gutstompas, Death and the Wraith Fleet, and Chaos and the Fist of the Everchosen. You can't use a more specific allegiance abilities combined with the Firestorm stuff (so no Stormcasts Eternal abiliteis with the CIty States for example).

Hope that all makes sense, and look forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks!
